You Should Watch This…(Are you in FLOW?)

I love Youtube. It’s the reason I started to take my creativity seriously and pursue a career in the arts. Sure, there’s a lot of bullshit to navigate, but when you find a content creator that resonates with your soul, you’ve found gold. Jamie Windsor is a Photographer based out of London. During his down time between assignments and work commitments he creates some of the best videos about the art of photography. In his latest video, he speaks about “How photography can make you happy //
Flow is a mental state we can get into that acts as a form of pure focus and happiness. It was named by Hungarian-American psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in the 1970s. Flow is about being completely present in the moment. It gives us a form of mental freedom. Risk-taking vastly increases, creativity vastly increases. All our focus is directed at the task at hand, and that means that our anxieties become diminished, as they are formed from bad things that have happened in the past and the possibility of what bad things may happen in the future. Our mind in drawn completely into the now. On top of that, scientists have discovered that Flow also vastly increases our productivity and our ability to learn and remember. ” -Jamie Windsor

Black Fatherhood

I had the privilege of spending time with my friend Andre and his son Bokhari yesterday for his 1st birthday. Andre reflected on his first year of fatherhood and how Bokhari has changed his outlook on life. Fatherhood in the black community can be viewed as non-existent by other groups in the world via how the media portrays us. Black people are the most copied and envied, but often the least celebrated. As a black creator and artist, I feel it’s my responsibility to share these intimate moments for the world to view. Black is beautiful.  Happy 1st Birthday Bokhari!
